Paula Rowan – Luxury Leather Goods Specialist.
Born and raised in Dublin, Paula Rowan always appreciated beauty and craftsmanship. She had always loved gloves and felt there was a lack of fashion driven, quality, hand-made leather gloves available so she decided to design her own collection. A signature style of sharp tailoring, elegant and rich embellishment was apparent from that first collection and is still her hallmark today.
Ireland’s only glove designer and one of twelve globally, makes what Paula does quite unique. Paula develops the theme and spirit of the collection, inspired by aesthetics and her surrounding environment – fashion, architecture, antiques and the Irish coastline and landscape influence her creative process.
Each glove is hand-made using tools that glove makers have used for centuries passing this craft and knowledge from one generation to the next. They are cut from the finest leather and carefully hand-dyed to Paula’s colour palette. A combination of organic oils and waxes are applied to the leather for its signature look and feel. Then its hand finished using vintage Singer sewing machines.
Eschewing fashion trends, Paula Rowan creates collections known for their glamour, tailoring, and dramatic details such as studs, layering, cuffs and texture. With her attention-grabbing designs, it’s no surprise she’s consistently a celebrity and fashion favourite—Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, Chloe Sevigny, Kate Moss, Princess Charlene of Monaco, Elle McPherson and Ireland’s First Lady are among her fans. Rowan’s gloves have graced the pages of Italian Vogue, Grazia, Harper’s Bazaar, AnOther , New York Town and Country, Financial Times How to Spend It Magazine and Elle to mention but a few.
A love of luxury and leather led Paula to design and create her first glove collection which she launched in 2008. Since then her soft, sculptured, edgy but still feminine designs in both classic and bright colours have gained an international following. The name Paula Rowan is now becoming synonymous with leather gloves.
